First-person shooter (FPS) is a video game genre which centers the gameplay around gun and projectile weapon-based combat through the first person perspective; i.e., the player experiences the action through the eyes of a protagonist. Generally speaking, the first-person shooter shares common traits with other shooter games, which in turn fall under the heading action game. From the genre's inception, advanced 3D or pseudo-3D graphics elements have challenged hardware development, and multiplayer gaming has been integral.
10. Killzone 3
Killzone 3 is an awesome FPS game developed by Guerrilla Games. This PS3 game has immersive, intense and savage action in it.
The game begins in medias res from the point of view of (presumably) two Helghast soldiers who have arrived at Stahl Arms Corporation, Jorhan Stahl's weapons factory. The two are taken to an execution room where a captured Jason Narville's execution is about to be broadcast by Stahl across Helghan. As the two soldiers are about to execute Narville, they reveal themselves as Tomas "Sev" Sevchenko and Rico Velasquez and the scene cuts back six months earlier, immediately following the events of Killzone 2.
9. Resistance 3
Resistance 3 is said to be a welcome return of classic weapons like Auger and Bulls eye and has highly upgraded weapons in it. It is said that it has only 16 multiplayer options for online gaming.
The game will retain mostly the same gameplay mechanics as it predecessor albeit with several changes. The weapon wheel from the first Resistance game will be returning after it was excluded from Resistance 2. There will also be new environmental objects such as chimeran plants which explode when shot at. The game will see a mixture of new and old weapons; returning weapons include the Bullseye, Magnum, Shotgun, Auger and Carbine, while one of the new weapons is the Mutator which shoots biological mists causing enemies to eventually explode causing splash damage, as well as a new grenade which is shaped like a food can which releases an arsenal of nails when it explodes. All weapons are upgradeable, and become more powerful the more they are used. In line with the survival theme of Resistance 3, humans are forced to assemble their weapons from whatever scrap they can gather. Frag grenades, for example, are constructed from bean cans with nails attached to them.

The controls for the Point Man are the same, with shooting enemies and slowing time. As Fettel, you assist the Point Man by using telekinesis, stun, possession, and other abilities.
7. Call of Duty (Modern Warfare 3)
Here is the 8th entry of Call of Duty and is a must play game. It can be played on PC and Xbox 360.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is an upcoming first-person shooter video game set to be released in November 2011. It will be the eighth installment in the Call of Duty series. Due to a legal dispute between the game's publisher Activision and the former co-executives of Infinity Ward - which caused several lay-offs and departures within the company - Sledgehammer Games will assist in the development of the singleplayer, and Raven Software will develop the multiplayer. The game is said to have been in development since only two weeks after the release of the previous game, Call of Duty: Black Ops. Sledgehammer is aiming for a "bug free" first outing in the Call of Duty franchise, which also sets a goal for Metacritic review scores above 95 percent.
6. Doom 4

It will use the company's new id Tech 5 engine and was announced as in production on May 7, 2008, following speculation by John Carmack at QuakeCon on August 3, 2007.
There are suggestions that, like Doom 2, it will take place on Earth, and will feature gameplay more akin to the original Doom games rather than the horror styled gameplay of Doom 3.
Brink is a Splash Damage production and is said to be a PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 game and is also said to be a revolutionized FPS game.
Brink is an upcoming first-person shooter video game developed by Splash Damage, scheduled for release May 17, 2011 in the US and May 20 in Europe. It offers team-based multiplayer missions that are equally playable in offline single player mode, with authored narratives, persistent player characters and an approachable nature. It is also developer Splash Damage's first original title, as past titles were part of existing franchises.
In Brink, two factions, "Resistance" and "Security", fight in the previously utopian city known as The Ark, a floating city surrounded by the waters of a flooded Earth. The Ark was designed as a prototype of a perfect city, with renewable resources and no pollution, large enough to support 5,000 residents. However, due to many refugees entering the city from other parts of the world, its population has grown to over 50,000, meaning there are not enough resources to go around - resulting in the city being on the brink (hence the name of the game) of a civil war.
Brink will feature Steamworks integration, including Valve Anti-Cheat. Its technology is id Tech 4 with a new rendering framework and improved support for multiple CPU cores.
It is iD Software Development and can be played on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. It is said to be released on 13th September, 2011.
Rage (stylized as RAGE) is an upcoming first-person shooter game by id Software. It will use the company's new id Tech 5 engine. The game was first shown as a tech demo on June 11, 2007, at Apple's WWDC, and was officially announced on August 2, 2007, at QuakeCon. On the same day, a trailer for the game was released by Gametrailers.com. A handheld spin-off has been released for iOS.
Information available so far indicates that the game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world similar to that of other popular video games such as Fallout. In an interview with GameSpot, designer Tim Willits revealed that the game is set in the near future following the impact of the asteroid 99942 Apophis. Matthew J. Costello, who worked on the plot of Doom 3, is also working on the Rage plot. Influences on the driving and racing gameplay include games such as MotorStorm and Burnout, according to another Willits interview by Shacknews. Players will be able to upgrade their cars with money won from races.

1. Battlefield 3
It is an EA games production and the best PC game in the world. It is said to be released in the coming fall 2011. It will be available on PS3, PC and Xbox 360. Fingers crossed for it!
Battlefield 3 will feature the maximalist combined arms battles that made the series popular across single-player, co-operative and multiplayer modes. It will reintroduce several elements absent from the Bad Company games, including fighter jets, the prone position and 64-player battles on PC, while the consoles will support 24 players. A new animation system will allow players to "drag fallen comrades into safety and mount weapons on almost any part of the terrain." The destructible environments of DICE's new Frostbite 2 engine will also be in use.
Battlefield 3 uses a new type of character animation technology called ANT. ANT technology is used in EA Sports games such as FIFA, but will now be used to create a more realistic soldier. Player models will appear more real with the ability to transition into cover, and turn their head before their body.
In the March 2011 issue of Game Informer magazine, they describe how an RPG can hit a building and cause ripple splash damage. The updated Frostbite 2 engine can realistically show how a seven story building would collapse during an earthquake in a pile of smoke and debris.
Maps set in Paris, Tehran, Sulaymaniyah and New York have been confirmed. As a whole the game will cover urban streets, metropolitan downtown areas, and open landscapes suited to vehicle combat. The single player campaign takes place in the year 2014...
BONUS!!! Duke Nukem Forever
Duke Nukem Forever is an upcoming first-person shooter video game for the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 systems, currently in development by Gearbox Software, and a sequel to the 1996 game Duke Nukem 3D, as part of the long-running Duke Nukem video game series.
The Aliens have returned to Earth yet again, messing up Duke's sweet routine of dirty leisure habits. They start by stealing Earth women and by drinking Duke's beer. As Duke battles his way through waves of aliens, the once beautiful gambling haven of Las Vegas and the Duke Nukem franchise chains start crumbling before his very eyes.
Intended to be groundbreaking, Duke Nukem Forever has become infamous in the video games industry and was considered vaporware due to its severely-protracted development schedule; the game has been in development since 1997. Originally in development under 3D Realms, director George Broussard, one of the creators of the original Duke Nukem game, first announced the title's development in April 1997, and promotional information for the game was released in one form or another from 1997 to 2008.
After repeatedly announcing and deferring release dates, 3D Realms announced in 2001 that it would be released simply "when it's done". In May 2009, 3D Realms was downsized for financial reasons, resulting in the loss of the game's development team. Statements by the company indicated that the project was due to go gold soon with pictures of final development. Take-Two Interactive, which owns the publishing rights to the game, filed a lawsuit in 2009 against 3D Realms over their failure to finish development. 3D Realms retorted that Take-Two's legal interest in the game is limited to their publishing right. The case was settled with prejudice and details undisclosed in May 2010. On September 3, 2010, after 13 years, Duke Nukem Forever was officially reported by 2K Games to be in development at Gearbox Software. The official release date has since been revealed to be May 3, 2011 in North America, with a worldwide release following on May 6, 2011.
